On May 16, local time, Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the opening ceremony of the Kerch Strait Bridge in Russia, and personally drove the test drive, leading the convoy to pass the bridge.
The Kerch Strait Bridge is the only road-rail bridge connecting the Crimea Peninsula with the Russian mainland. With a total length of 19 kilometers and a sea-crossing part of 7.5 kilometers, the bridge is currently the longest bridge in Russia and even Europe. The bridge was officially opened to car traffic on May 16. After completion, the estimated traffic capacity is 40,000 cars and 47 pairs of trains per day, 14 million passengers and 13 million tons of cargo per year.
